Boycotting All Nestlé Products ! Until the company switches to Certified Sustainable Palm Oil.
Nestlé, one of the world's major food manufacturers, is one of the largest buyers of Palm Oil. Nestlé had previously committed to switch to sustainable supplies. Sadly, according to many watchdogs of the Palm Oil industry, most of the oil used by Nestlé still comes from unsustainable plantations.
So what’s the big deal about palm oil ?
Well… Palm oil is now the most used vegetable oil on the planet. So demand is growing and growing.
And this expansion comes at the expense of tropical forest, which is the habitat of numerous endangered species.
Thousands of hectares of rainforest are being cleared in Malaysia, Indonesia, Borneo and beyond, to be replaced by Palm Oil plantations. This is a very unsustainable way to manage long-term and responsible development.
Palm oil can be grown sustainably. It is possible for the industry to grow and prosper without sacrificing any more tropical forests.
All major purchasers of Palm Oil know what to do in order to help the development of sustainable plantations, including Nestlé.
Lately, the company has been the target of many campaigns to get them to shape up. This boycott of all Nestlé product will hopefully help in getting the message through.
Interesting info on Palm Oil:
To be successful a boycott needs to be broadcasted far and wide.
Take a few minutes. Print this Boycott Notice. Hand it or mail it to the corporation. Online action is wonderful but nothing beats a real old-fashion written warning notice !
